ATS Design Gives the TT a Makeover

Audi’s TT is probably one of the most radically designed cars to ever go from concept to showroom floor. Looking as though it is straight out of a sci-fi movie, the car garners a “love it, or leave it” attitude. Its design turns heads, even if those heads disdain the TT’s appearance or admire it. The TT’s design queues have even overflowed into other markets—for example, the new Kobe shoe from Adidas was designed by the same team that designed the TT in Audi’s California-based design studio.

Though the TT has a fairly loyal following, aftermarket body parts aren’t nearly as abundant as they are for the Golf, Jetta, and Beetle, all of which share the same platform as the TT. That being said, there are a few select companies that have taken on the task of making the TT stand out with an aero package. ATS Design is one such company. ATS has taken a route that many would agree is the best. Rather than trying to radically modify the clean, unique lines of the TT, ATS has developed a body kit and rear deck spoiler that add to the original design’s ocular enticement.

The kit consists of four urethane splitters that go on the lower corners of each bumper and a rear wing that has billet-aluminum perches, and a third brake light that sits in the body of the urethane wing. Installation of the splitters is as easy as applying double-sided tape and securing screws in the fenderwells.

The wing installation requires minor wiring and drilling through the decklid with the included template. Not only is there a template included, but all the necessary hardware, including installation instructions, are also part of the package. We spent a couple of hours at the ATS shop and watched them install the flawless-fitting kit on a 2000 TT. Follow along as this TT goes from “blah” to “blam.”
