"As motoring enthusiasts, we understand the benefit of superior optics in tints suitable for driving. But you shouldn't have to sacrifice style in pursuit of lens quality. In our collection, we're confident drivers will find both," said Terence Scheckter, president of Petrol Eyewear.

Petrol Eyewear is a new optics company that introduced its polarized driving sunglass collection at last year's SEMA show in Las Vegas. Petrol is a subsidiary of alloy wheel maker TSW and aims to bring the same levels of quality and fashion-conscious design to the eyewear market. What's more, these guys are driving enthusiasts like us, so the product has been designed for that purpose. The frames are lightweight to reduce fatigue, the lenses are high-quality to ensure accurate vision, and the glare reduction is an essential safety aspect when you're driving.

Now available at www.petroleyewear.comand soon available at retail locations across the US, the Petrol line features a mix of high-performance ultra-light titanium frames along with other metal and Grilamid/plastic models suitable for a variety of activities.

Just as important as their design, Petrol has focused on lens quality. Most Petrol styles feature the company's signature RepeliumTM multi-layer lens that's claimed to be six-times more scratch-resistant than a standard type polycarbonate lens. More importantly, it cuts road glare by using best-in-class polarization, and is produced in tints formulated to not only maximize depth perception but visual accuracy as well.

As you'd expect, the lenses offer 100% protection from damaging ultraviolet UVA, UVB and UVC rays. However, they also have an ultra-slick outer surface that resists water, smudges and fingerprints - perfect for those of us who want to "get in and go", without worrying about whether they accidentally touch the lens.

"The sunglass market is largely comprised of brands that focus on either lens technology or fashionable frames. Petrol is unique in its commitment to both," said Scheckter.

While the company is admittedly obsessed with lens technology, the frames benefit from equal attention-to-detail. Similar to those used to make prescription glasses, Petrol frames are lightweight, comfortable and sturdy enough for daily wear. Strong stainless steel hinges and corrosion-resistant frame wire are the hallmarks of Petrol quality.

"We decided to invest in materials and technology rather than just marketing," said Scheckter. "A single Petrol lens costs more than some of our competitors choose to invest in an entire pair of sunglasses. So the Petrol customer is getting an extraordinary product."

Petrol styles range in price from $120-200and all styles carry a one-year warranty. So if you're currently looking for a fashionable pair of sunglasses that will withstand the rigors of your daily commute, check out the Petrol website.
