Audi to unveil new 5-cylinder powerhouse at the Geneva Auto Show
Audi Tt Rs Front Views

Audi is again producing a five-cylinder powerhouse: the Audi {{{TT}}} RS will be unveiled to the world at the Geneva Auto Show. Its turbocharged 2.5-liter engine derived from the motor used in US versions of the Rabbit and Jetta 2.5 produces well over 300hp. It also delivers explosive acceleration, driving delight, and unrivalled sound.

Powerful five-cylinder engines have a long legacy at Audi, made notorious by the ur quattro and the Group B rally cars it spawned. The turbocharged, direct-fuel-injection engine in the TT RS is the new face of this dynamic tradition. It enables the TT RS to perform extraordinary feats. For example, it reach 62mph in less than 5sec; overtaking is child's play; and top speed is limited to 155mph.

The quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, a sophisticated chassis and stupendous brakes keep a tight rein on the power. All in all, the compact TT RS - with its lightweight and largely aluminum body constructed on the Audi Space Frame principle - is a driving machine to be reckoned with. The car will be available in Coupe and Cabriolet versions.

While the TT RS is an exciting product, it's very good news for VW enthusiasts because it means there will be a range of new parts for the 2.5-liter motor that could possibly be adapted for use in the Rabbit. At least two US tuners are already looking into the possibility of making this a reality.
